This is the success story of how Save Our Grassroots helped this historic club protect its pitches and community from the effects of extreme weather and match cancellations.
Protecting a Century
of Community Sport
Old Northamptonians have over 100 years of community sports history. But flooding has led to waterlogged pitches, and cancelled games and training.
SAVE OUR GRASSROOTS matched every £1 donated to help them get them to their £20,000 target - funding critical improvements to pitch quality and resilience.

The program has also brought everyone together across our sporting sections, with increased volunteering, opportunity for girls and additional wellbeing activities that have helped get us closer to nature, and strengthened the roots of not only the grass we play on, but of the club and local community.

BIODIVERSITY IMPROVEMENTS
The project is also delivering wider community benefits. Volunteers have worked alongside The Wildlife Trust and sports sustainability specialists Final Third to improve biodiversity across the site through habitat creation and pollinator plantingwhile.
Plans are underway for a sensory memorial garden honouring the 94 individuals whose legacy inspired the club's creation.
